As Christians, we believe that the
Bible is God’s Word offered for our guidance and direction. It
is important that we regularly study the Bible, thus the Akron
First United Methodist Church offers a variety of classes and
programs for Christian Education.
We have Sunday school for all ages Pre-K through adult on Sunday
mornings from 9:30 - 10:20 am. We also run various adult
classes on other nights during the week depending on the
season. We have a program during the worship service called
Time Together. Time Together is a program that allows children
ages 3 through grade 3 to leave the sanctuary during the second
half of the worship service and have a lesson and activity
geared toward their levels and interests. Sunday school also
sponsors various special events throughout the calendar year,
such as a bowling party, movie nights, a sledding party,
Christmas play and an end of the year family picnic.
Vacation Bible School
During the summer, Vacation Bible School is an exciting time for
children to learn in fun and adventurous ways. VBS is usually
held in July with the entire church buzzing with excitement and
fun.
Church Nursery
Nursery
Attendant: Michelle Murray
Each Sunday
during worship services our Nursery is staffed with a certified
child-care provider along with assistants. Our Church Nursery
provides lessons and activities including snacks and crafts each
week. We believe that the nursery is not a place for
babysitting but where children can learn of God’s love from the
youngest ages.
