Youth Groups
We have two youth groups, Middle School and Jr/Sr High who
meet twice a month with many activities and events throughout
the year. The Youth Groups attend annual youth conferences, one
in the Fall and the other in the Spring. Several of our youth
have gone on missions trips and do hands-on outreach projects.

Adult Groups
The United
Methodist Women meet monthly with a dinner, and the United
Methodist Men meet over a monthly breakfast. The purpose of
adult groups are to provide fellowship, outreach and missional
ministries. An important purpose of both the UMM and UMW is to
support of various church projects, particularly focusing on
children’s and youth ministries. Each group is involved in
various church dinners and events throughout the year.
Caring Ministry
The outreach
to the poor and needy is important to our church, and often
times care takes on the form of visitation and a helping hand.
Our Caring Ministry assists those who may need a hot meal, a
ride to the doctor, or a visit while in the hospital or nursing
home, assist families with gifts at Christmas, support the
Interfaith Fellowship Food Pantry, or offer assistance in other
ways. Caring for one another is an essential part of our call
as Christians, and here at the Akron First United Methodist
Church we extend the love of God through our Caring Ministry.
Music
Ministry
Music
Director: Debby Clark
Music has
been a part of the lives of God’s people for thousands of years,
and is still essential to our worship and praise of God.
Whether hymns, psalms, anthems, handbells and chimes, or
children’s songs, music lifts our hearts and voices in praising
the Lord our God.
Akron First
United Methodist Church has a long tradition of excellent music
ministries. The Chancel Choir offers weekly anthems in worship,
seasonal cantatas, and various other music opportunities. The
United Ringers handbell choir is exceptional in its talents both
as a full choir and duets and solo ringers. Each week the
children sing familiar Sunday School songs, and Vacation Bible
School is always full of singing and musical themes.
If you enjoy
singing, you are invited to join the Chancel Choir. Or if you
would like to try playing handbells with the United Ringers,
contact our Music Director Debby Clark and she will answer any
of your questions.
